Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 

The hotel has installed devices on the faucets and showers to reduce wastage of water, thereby aiding in water conservation. The hotel also practises separation of its garbage as well as recycling of cardboard, cooking oil, cans and bottles. Bulbs that consume less energy have been installed and the restrooms and hallways have sensor switches that control lighting. Some of the fridges of the rooms have glass doors, so that the guests can choose what they want without opening the door, which saves energy.

The hotel has employed the local community and has also implemented the first-job project. Youngsters have the opportunity to learn a profession while some jobs are reserved for the elderly workers.

Every time the hotel changes or buys new furniture, the old items are donated to the Church of Father Carlos on Estrada do Moinho in the Campo Grande neighbourhood. At the church, the furniture is given away to the economically underprivileged people living in Campo Grande.
