Tijuca National Park is the biggest urban forest in the world. The mountains are covered by the Atlantic Forest and contrast well with the granite rocks, which account for the unique character of the constructions and beaches in Rio.
The charming neighbourhood of Santa Tereza is part of the afternoon tour. Considered the Montmartre of Rio de Janeiro, its streets are covered with cobblestones on which a tram line still runs on a daily basis. The old houses and the interesting museums create an enchanting atmosphere in the area.
As an alternative to the full day tour, you can add a visit to Corcovado Mountain to see the Statue of Christ, one of the New Seven Wonders of the modern world.
