Rio de Janeiro Weather Forecast
Rio de Janeiro has a subtropical climate, with an average temperature of around 28 °C (82 °F) and a humidity of 75%. The year is divided into two distinct seasons; the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season, with an average annual rainfall of about 1,800 millimeters (71 in), begins around October and ends in late March when the 'March Rains' are considered to be the closure of the summer. The dry season runs from April to September.
The hottest month is January, when it is common to have very hot and humid days, and midday temperatures can reach 39 °C (102 °F). It is more likely that there will be heavy but short rain showers during these days, offering a little break from the heat.
The coolest period is in July and August, with day time temperatures in the mid 20's on most days and dropping to as low as 16-18 °C (61-65 °F) in the early mornings. But don't be surprised if in the middle of the month the temperature in Rio de Janeiro reaches mid 30's.
Therefore, Rio de Janeiro's weather attracts visitors all year round and the high seasons are from October to March and also July. A very good time for Rio de Janeiro travel is from April to June, when the city is less crowded.
